Driving to ORNL GUEST HOUSE from Knoxville’s McGhee Tyson Airport
Exit the airport, taking US 129 North toward Knoxville. Proceed approximately 1.5 miles, then exit onto 1-140 to Oak Ridge. Continue on 1-140 approximately 11.5 miles, straight (left lane) onto Pellissippi Parkway (TN 162 North). Continue straight on TN 162 across the Herman B. Postma bridge. Merge to the right-lane exit for Bethel Valley Road, proceed straight past the traffic light to the ORNL east vehicle entrance. (See visitor information on pre-arranging your visit.) Once you are verified, continue about 4 miles on Bethel Valley Road. See sign for Spallation Neutron Source. At the 2nd traffic light, turn right onto Spallation Drive, follow signs to ORNL Guest House (approximately 1.5 miles, turn right). The Guest House will be on your right.
Driving to ORNL GUEST HOUSE from Downtown Knoxville
Take Interstate 40 West out of downtown Knoxville. After approximately 10 miles, take Exit 376 onto Pellissippi Parkway (TN 162) following the signs to Oak Ridge. Continue straight on TN 162 across the Herman B. Postma Bridge. Merge to the right-lane exit for Bethel Valley Road, proceed straight past the traffic light to the ORNL east vehicle entrance. Continue per directions above.
External Transportation Services
External transportation services from the airport to Oak Ridge National Laboratory can be used as follows: Individuals being dropped off or picked up must be a visitor with approved Personnel Access System (PAS) and Portal Access Check (PAC). Talk with your host about Laboratory access prior to arrival. Logo marked vehicles from taxi companies, Uber, and Lyft may enter the Laboratory only if they are dropping off or picking up a visitor.
For drop-off, visitor should have an approved form of identification (See Entering ORNL, https://www.ornl.gov/content/come-see-us#building). For pick-up, the outside transportation service driver must have the name of the guest and an approved form of identification. Note: External transportation may only go to the ORNL Visitor Center during normal business hours; or the Guest House or LSS during normal business hours, evenings and weekends.
IMPORTANT NOTICE OF CHANGE: Beginning April 1, 2023, all delivery drivers (taxi, Uber, Lyft, DoorDash etc.) must be US citizens or non-US citizens with a valid ORNL badge to enter the campus. Those not meeting this criterion will not be allowed through the security checkpoint. When calling for a taxi (at the airport or the Laboratory), other driver delivery service, or ordering a food delivery, please verify that the driver will be a U.S. citizen or has a valid ORNL badge to prevent delays or entry failures.
